Deus Ex 2: Early Game Walkthrough: Lower Seattle

From PlayItHardcore

Overview

There is only one challenging encounters in Lower Seattle, which is the face-off in Sak's hangar. You'll need to come down here before visiting the WTO Terminal if you don't want to make multiple trips, unless you plan on using Sid Black as your transport.

I suggest heading down here just before you are ready to head to the WTO Terminal, and first go to the Heron's Loft Apartments. After this go to Sohpia Sak's hangar and wipe it out, unless you are playing passive. In either case, then head to the Order Church and then the Greasel Pit.

Lower Seattle Outdoors

Sewers

There are two Karkians in the Sewers underneath the grate when you enter this area. A shotgun to the face is the best way to deal with them. They conceal some loot, including an Energy Blade, if you didn't decide to rob the Penthouse. The Karkians can run faster than you and do a lot of damage in melee, so I don't advise taking them on close up. Pelt them with a shotgun from medium range. Two shots will do.

Destroy Coffee Shop

If you took the quest to trash the Coffee Shop instead of just murdering everyone in Upper Seattle, you can break into it now and destroy the boxes. The easiest way to do it is to disarm the glass with your Pistol (Assuming you put in the Silencer and Glass Destabilizer). The turrett will not go hostile if you do this and break the boxes.

Enemy Counts

  • 2 Red Greasels

Ally/Neutral Counts

  • Lo-town Lucy
  • Mack
  • Omar Protector
  • Omar Trader
  • Thug

Bloodlust Notes

  • Nothing to note unless you decide to kill the Omar. If you do, beware that one of them has a Flamethrower and will fuck you up righteously if you get too close.

Heron's Loft Apartments

Visit here to wipe out Sak and her small army, kill Gobzilla and talk to the Queequegs manager.

Sophia Sak

Sophia Sak is holding Sid Black's Harrier as collateral for a debt. You can either choose to pay off the debt yourself, or, better yet, wipe out Sak and all her goons. The easiest way to wipe out her and her personal bodyguard is to slaughter the guard in front of the gate, then hop over it and hack the computer if you have Neural Interface. From there you can take control of the turret, and from complete safety you can obliterate all of them. You get an Infolink message from Lin-May when Sophia dies.

If you choose to pay off the debt (Needed if you are doing a passive run), it is 250 credits.

Help out Queequegs

Inside the apartments is the manager of the Queequegs in Lower Seattle. He'll ask you to get his permit for expanding into Upper Seattle approved. If you do this for him and return, it's a nice 300 credit bonus.

Kill Gobzilla

The easiest way to do this is to climb onto the fire escape outside the apartments, then break the glass and shoot the gob through the window. You don't need to face the trainer if you don't want, but all she wields is a pistol and is an easy kill.

Enemy Counts

Ally/Neutral Counts

  • Sophia Sak (SMG)
  • 5 SSC Guards (Shotgun(4), Pistol(1))
  • Queequeg's Manager
  • Greasel Trainer (Pistol)

Stealth/Passive Notes

You can get into Sophia's area and chat with her, then duck into the supply room. So long as the guard isn't in the room with you at the moment, you can break into the lockers and get the login for her security computer. Then you can tinker with the cameras. To tinker with the turret you need Neural Interface at level 3.

Bloodlust Notes

Nothing special. Only the Queequegs manager.

Sak's Hangar

You can enter here anytime. Sak's guards will go hostile if you approach this area without dispatching them first. The easiest way to deal with this is to enter and immediately run left, then crawl up the ladder. Wait for the Sniper Guard to make her rounds, then plug her any way you choose. Then just camp out where you are. All the guards will come to investigate, but be unable to see you. You can pick them all off one by one now. If you did this right, you won't have triggered any alarms.

If you did trigger an alarm, you'll have to deal with the turrets.

Enemy Counts

  • 5 SSC Guards (Sniper Rifle(2), Pistol(2), SMG)
  • 1 Spiderbot
  • 1 Security Bot

Ally/Neutral Counts

None

Stealth/Passive Notes

If you time the Sniper's patrol path, you can sneak up the ladder and into the armory without her noticing. There's some nice loot inside, though all of it weapons-related. You cannot actually liberate Sid's jet without murdering everyone here, unfortunately, so it's either get your hands bloody or shell out the credits.

Bloodlust Notes

None

Greasel Pit

This is a passive area and you cannot be harmed here. Don't forget to loot it, though.

Sid Black

If you rescued Sid's harrier, you can buy a ride to Mako from him here to Mako.

Ava Johnson

In one of the back rooms you will meet Ava, who will give you a free ride to Mako - provided you free her from the WTO Air Terminal. If you are doing a Passive run, do not do this. If you aren't, go for it.

Murder Gobzilla

The black greasel trainer will ask you to kill Gobzilla for him. If you are following this guide you already did. Bet on the first Greasel match. The outcome is random. Then, leave the Greasel Pit and come back. Now, bet on Snake-Eyes. You have a very high chance of winning if you killed Gobzilla. On top of getting up to 1800 credits for betting on Snake-Eyes, the trainer will also pay you 100 credits for offing Gobzilla.
